Drs. John Gunstad and Mary Beth Spitznagel teach a range of classes for both undergraduate and graduate students, including:

In addition to courswork, graduate students in the Clinical Neuropsychology Research Lab have the opportunity to work with clinical patients in various settings. These experiences begin early in their graduate training and may include:
Neuropsychology Practicum
Most graduate students receive their first opportunity to perform clinical evaluations as part of the neuropsychology practicum in the Kent State University Psychology Clinic. Students learn how to administer/score commonly-used tests, perform a neuropsychological intake interview, write clinical reports, and provide feedback to patients.
Community Memory Screenings
Graduate students also have the opportunity to help screen for memory loss in older adults through our community memory screenings. Several times each year, we provide free memory screenings for older adults at local community centers.
KSU Athletics Concussion Program
Our lab also assists the Kent State University Athletic Department through our ongoing concussion program. Student-athletes complete computerized cognitive testing at the beginning of the season and re-evaluation following any suspected concussion.
Center for Senior Health
The outpatient neuropsychology extern rotation is housed within the Summa Health System Center for Senior Health. Externs conduct 1 full neuropsychological evaluation per week for differential diagnosis and treatment recommendations in a geriatric population.
Geriatric Psychiatry Inpatient Unit
The inpatient neuropsychology extern rotation provides brief inpatient neuropsychological consultation to the inpatient psychiatry services of Summa Health System. Externs conduct 1-2 brief consultation exams per week to assist with discharge planning and treatment recommendations.
